About keeping a Rooster...

Welll, some of the people in suburbia above our valley seem to have nothing to do but complain - one of our neighbours down the street had a rooster, we could just hear him in the mornings and the council went door knocking to find out where he was (they didn't!) and then, next door was having some work done at their place and the council came around looking for a home business that wasn't supposed to be there...
I do want to leave the city and move to the country properly but we can't financially at the moment - my husband has a very good job so needs to sort out something (I work from home), but when we do go, I will have more land and more animals...perhaps thats why we haven't gone yet?!!
Onslow is settling in ok at his new house - they took a video for me to see, he is not being attacked and is eating and letting them pick him up so that is good - there are two other roosters there but they are ignoring him at this stage. I do miss him and his chatter, he didn't crow during the day but he did talk a lot! He has also been on their deck visiting his new owners so I am happy about that! I also said if he doesn't settle i ok then I want him to come home - I read that chickens remember each other up to a month - is that correct?
With treats and handling, I was doing that with him - he was getting a bit bossy about treats so he had to wait until last when I gave them out...he was much more polite after that! With mounting the girls, he wanted to do that the day before he left but they told him to sod off, so he did - such a sweetie!
