? about lost title on Honda motorcycle

Hubby is frustrated in getting parts for his bike.

So he is planning on selling on Ebay for parts and scraps. Its a pity but we just dont see how we can spend all that money on a bike that is valued around 300-400 dollars and title will cost us half of that amount plus the amount trying to find the parts. We have a Honda dealership and they told us most of the parts he needed were obsolete and it would be in the best interest to sell it to a very serious restorer or scrap it.

We will sell the moped for that reason also because last year, the DMV said it will cost him over 150 dollars to get it restated, filed and get plates for the moped.

Someone is right, it is so hard to get any vechicle titled and the state of Illinois is one of the hardest state to deal with!

In our state I have heard of people filing an abandoned vehicle report and after a certain time they could file for a lost title. I have never done it. Just heard of it being done. I dont know what you exactly have to do. I dont know if they still do that here though. But it is worth looking into.. Tell the DMV that some one abandoned a vehicle on your property. And you cant legally remove or scrap it until you get the title. Then see what it takes to do it.

If Illinois is hard to deal with the DMV in this way. Do you have a relative or trust worthy friend in a neighboring state that the DMV is a little bit more easy to deal with. Maybe they can register the bike in their state. And sell you back your bike for a $1. Then you could legally register it into your name much easier.

Just a thought. Hope you figure it out..
