? about silkies

I've wanted silkies since I 1st got into chickens. I have a fenced in area that would be great for silkies. Would they be able to get over a 4 ft picket fence??

They don't fly.

Hell, mine rarely jump a foot off the ground.

Mine do not fly either. I think a 4 ft fence would be fine.

That's great to know. I already have one silkie mix hen. She can't fly but can jump pretty good. Maybe it's whatever she's mixed with that makes her jump good. She's lays grocery store size brown eggs. She's a big girl!

I read somewhere that a 3' fence would work so an extra foot will really help

They should be fine, although some pq birds with more sparse crests may attempt and even succeed in jumping the fence...

My hen is a good jumpier but she is real small. I think she could jump a 4ft fence..LOL

They cannot get over but predators can get in , so be very careful!
