? about Southern Food?

It depends on the food they are in, example: if it is field peas and snaps, then it is snapped field pea pods in their young and tender stage.

By the way, I'm still giggling about you outrunning security! Great mental image

OK I had to go searching for them. Here they are:

So they are field peas. On line the ingredients list the snaps as green beans.

Don't know why I didn't see that in the store.

I did reach for a can of black eyed peas, but when I got home it was pinto beans, maybe my eyes weren't working. They were good.

The southern secret to getting them to taste good is to cook them with bacon or hog jowl. Ya get enough grease in um and they taste pretty good or in your case Imp it'll make um go down the toilet easier.

As a kid...

Corn as cream of corn...

Peas as Sugar Snap Peas...

Oranges as Mandarin Oranges...

Cherries as Maraschino Cherries

Asparagus as long as it was the one canned brand where they were the softest

Never ate beans, ever...

Now all of those things still apply, except I don't eat the top two at all anymore.

And by the way... next time you are performing a time-sensitive supermarket exodous... please refrain from sampling the beans. That was really stinky.

They are good. Green beans are my least favorite of vegetables. I'd much rather have greens - doesn't matter, collards, turnip, mustard.

My first Christmas in Arkansas I made greasy beans; fresh green beans slow cooked with lots of salt pork. No one in this family will eat them. And they call themselves southerners.
