I would like to start farming them like that big long thread talks about.

We just bought this place and have a bunch of wooded acreage, I know we have a lot of rotting logs out there, what exactly do I look for to grab some to start my own farm.

I thought I could start with just a few since they are so prolific, I would enjoy getting them from the wild instead of ordering them online, free is my favorite price as my DH always says :)

Thanks

When I started with the mealworms I was very hesitant and thought they were creepy, now I think they are awesome and am totally into it. I would be ridiculous over-excited to be live somewhere where I could find wild mealworms.

Yeah, I think it would be cool, I am just not quite sure what to look for, if I go overturn a rotten log, the actual mealworms is what I want to find right?

I think I forgot to ask that in my OP, oops.

They dont live in rotting logs and dirt. They live and thrive off of grain products. They are found in grain silos and such. I would also recommend you buy some from someone also just to be safe and be sure your getting the right thing. Amy has great mealies and good prices, she is who I got mine from.
