I can't seem to find the forum on those totes, but I just wanted to let you all know...they are very hard to find.

Out of all the target stores in the whole state of Wisconsin...only one store has some. They are sold IN STORES ONLY. And they won't transfer from store to store. I would have to drive about 125 miles (one way) to get some. (And they one have four.)

I also looked at other stores that these multi purpose bins are to be sold at and no one carries them. I did a little research and found that the company that makes them, claimed chapter 11.

I'm so very disappointed. I so wanted some for my girls. If any one finds them, I suggest you buy them while you can. It was really a good idea.

My four original nest boxes are open and now a year after the girls have started laying I'm realizing they prefer the one enclosed box. Therefore in the near future I will be removing the open boxes and going with all enclosed.
The enclosed box is actually a large enclosed kitty litter box. They love it.

I found something that I think will work at Lowes. I need to add some wood tops. But the whole idea of just emptying the bedding and hosing it down...don't have to worry about mold or rust...
And about $2.00 cheaper. Still under $8.00. Cheaper than real nesting boxes. About $20.00 for a single. That's crazy.

I know. Chickens aren't as picky as I am.

Chapter 11? Darn it. I better go see if I can buy a couple more, just in case. I wish I'd bought several when I first spotted them.

I got the blue ones at dollar general, about 4 dollars, and cut a round hole in the lid, turned them on their sides and added a few braces, they work great,my hens love them,I have 12 layers and four boxes, they only use two,I have saw three hens in one box together, they refuse to use the box next to them,,same box, same size,

I bought one for my two bantams but one of the girls has taken a HUGE exception to it and goes crazy if its in the coop. I am in the process of slowly moving it closer and closer into the coop trying to get her used to its presence-its slow going and I will probably just find something else. I don't know why she hates it so much-she just took one look at it and freaked out. Chickens are so weird.

I found the exact same ones at Lowes for $4.95 ea and bought 10 of them I like the fact that at that price I can't build them for that.

One drawback I see is that there is a flat surface on top for feather girls to perch upon and poop.
