More specifically in Light Brahma breed.. I have on two occasions lost very unexpectedly a hen and now a rooster the hen was a few years old but the rooster was only around 2. No signs of illness or injury, normal behavior at night when getting ready to roost and then on both occasions found them flat on the ground dead. No signs again of injury or illness. I am wondering if heart issues are common or some other type of sudden death is common in this breed. I am stumped (and sad of course) both were beautiful birds and especially my boy who I lost or discovered dead today. Any experience or feedback would be appreciated!

I lost 2 that way a few days apart, and the only reason I could come up with was there was a dead mouse in a trap in a closed pen. Well hubby let the chickens into that pen. The 2 that died were real hogs with food. And the dead mouse was gone.

There's so many things they could have gotten into, it's really hard to know why. Maybe if it should happen again, you could send the bird for a necropsy.
