I almost had to shoot the neighbors cat, it was prowling on my little black silkie... One of their 30 cats got my favorite blue silkie this spring, not sure which one, but mark my word, of its back, it's a goner... No tolerance. I sorry this happened to you.

Sorry for you trouble, glad the dog owner got rid of the dogs and is willing to pay restitution....get the restitution agreement down in writing and signed you and her. Give receipts for any payments.

According to the pictures taken, the yard is fenced with chicken wire. Dogs, coons, coyotes, etc. tear right through chicken wire. Use a heavy gauge woven wire to border the yard. I use a 2"x 2" x 6' high woven wire http://www.redbrand.com/Products/SpecialtyApplication/YardGardenKennel.aspx and have the top of the yard covered with wire also. I bury 12" of 1/2 hardware around the entire border of the run as well for any predators that decide to try digging in my chicken yard. You can't make other people be responsible with their animals, but you can prevent these unfortunate circumstances with a secure yard. I have a sincere dislike for irresponsible dog owners. Some people aren't fit to raise kids, let alone a pup. We are living in an age of rampant irresponsibility.
