Absolutely mortified! (Speeding warning)

did you know that having Ohio plates on a vehicle that gets hit from behind is reason enough to be deemed guilty in the "SOUTH"

I'm not getting it...what?

I got hit from behind, whick automatically means the person that did not stop in time is guilty. I stopped for a person in the cross walk, again it is the law that persons in cross walk have right of way. I got hit from behind , tail lights and blinkers still worked because that was the persons first claim that my brake lights didn't work, I said he was traveling too fast and hit me when i asked the cop to document the fact that all lights were working and to note the scid marks(about 50 ft worth) I was told not to COME DOWN HERE and tell him how to do his job, and to get back in my vehicle or I would go to jail. Needless to say he let the other guy go then told me I was free to go to. Insurance co had to search to find other guy because this YANKEE did take other guys plate and car info before the good ole boy cop showed up to deem it OK to hit out of state cars. As a side note I did get plenty of witnesses that were willing to testify against the other driver and the cop if it went that far. Car got repaired and last insurance guy said they were still investigating

I don't know where you were but yes if I hit someone in the rear, it's my fault. You must have just got a "good ole boy" in a yankee hatin mood that day. And trust me there are TONS of people in the south in constant "yankee hatin moods".

It was north charleston,sc. so not just yankee hating, but military hating redneck. Plenty of those dont need the military in our town types then they wonder why thier town dries up when the military takes thier 100,000 personel and thier families and goes elsewhere

Now now! There's a difference in a redneck and white trash. I've been called a redneck many times and I just say thank you, but if you call me white trash I'll show you just how redneck I can get.

(These definitions are not from a book.)

Redneck: the term redneck came from hard working people in the fields, their necks would be red from the sun while they were breaking their backs pickin tobacco or cotton or whatever. The rich people were pasty white and that was the "fashion". If you had a red neck then you were a poor hardworking person burnt by the sun as you were bent over working.

White Trash: a person that carries themselves in a crude manor. Someone who is rude to everyone they meet and someone who gives southern folk a bad name.

That cop was white trash. My husband who is working on ACs all weekend when he should be having a 3 day weekend is a wonderful, loving, hardworking redneck.

Ernie, my Dh got pulled over on Storrow Drive, which he goes on everyday that he's working...
He was going 50 in a 35...in front of the Staties' Den...While the Smokey was writing the ticket people were going even faster by us!!!
We were going to his parents' too so that was even worse...
He's never had a speeding ticket in all of his 30 years of driving and all 3 of his accidents weren't even his fault.
Me on the other hand have crashed 3 cars in 20ish years of driving, got busted speeding and DWI, and jumped a opening drawbridge because I was late for work, but never got a speeding ticket and only ONE of my crashes was MY fault.
I did get pulled over for going through a yellow arrow. I was mailing Xmas recipes for a Homesteading Today swap. I had just gotten Tlaloc and he didn't have a registration so I was really supposed to be driving him AND I had cut open my hand at work, so that was 2 strikes...I burst into tears when the officer stopped me...
The very worst thing to say to a cop that stops you is:
"Are you old enough to be carrying a gun?"

I don't think Danny ever had a problem with ignorant people like that. Whenever he hears anyone talk crap about the military or the government now he just tells them that no one is making them stay in this country. If you don't love a country that protects you and a military full of sons and daughters that are dying for you...then get the h*** out of this country.

I come from a place where if you go into a bar and get carded and you pull out a military ID, they won't even look at your age you'll get the beer and you'll get it on the house. I was at a bar with Danny and my brother (my brother was in the AF at the time) My brother got carded and the bartender said "If you're old enough to fight and die for your country and me, then your old enough to drink a beer." That brought tears to my eyes. I love people like that.

Man, if I could get a warning, that would make my day. Unfortunately, both times that I've been stopped, I've been issued tickets.

My first experience was a ticket for 53/35. The speed limit changed from 45/35, and I was doing 45 before speeding up to avoid what I thought was an imminent collision from the left by a truck. Well, I was a hundred feet or two into the 35 zone when I looked up (I was focusing on the truck), and saw a cop buckling his seatbelt. I looked down at my speedo and it was 50. I knew I was busted. Cop wrote the ticket, first in my life, 21 years old. I ended up getting this ticket deferred, the fine was something like $170. I had to pay $100 to the court though...

Well, fast forward to June of that same year and I was screaming along around 75-80 in a 55 zone on a dark road around 22:00 hours. Well, silkiechicken was giving some the great advise to slow down, but of course, I threw her warnings to the wind. Well, as I was driving along, I looked in my rear view and saw headlights in the distance. I slowed down to roughly 60mph or so. As the lights drew closer, I could tell they were Crown Vic headlights. The overheads came on, and I pulled over. The state trooper clocked me at 77mph. He reduced it to 75mph so the ticket was only $146 instead of $200+. Sometimes being polite can pay off I guess! Or maybe it was because silkiechicken was in the car with me. On top of that, I couldn't produce my insurance papers, but he let it go because he knew my car was insured (they can check that with dispatch). This experience lead me to actually slow down since I knew I was in the wrong. That was ok with me. Since then, I rarely speed. I also roll with a Beltronics RX65 radar detector (thanks silkiechicken

) just for that extra insurance. It has saved me twice so far. I consider a save any time when I'm doing more than 5 over the speed limit. Usually I do the speed limit or +3 over.

Getting stopped stinks, getting a ticket is even worse. The fact that you got a warning is a blessing!

As nice as that may be, as I don't really have an opinion either way, that business could be forced to pay fines/penalties because they willingly served alcohol to minors. I do know that the age restriction is more... lenient, for deployed troops overseas.

My brother was 23 at the time. I don't give 2 s***s about the age limit. If you are old enought to DIE for this country then you are old enough to have a beer.

Now, I'm going to go drink a beer to the men a women who are not able to have a 3 day weekend this weekend. They are in my thoughs and prayers everyday. I pray that they all come home safely to their families that miss them and to a nation that respects and thanks them. And when I meet one at a bar I will buy him or her a drink or two.
