Access from coop to run

how big a hole does a standard size chicken need to exit the coop through the floor to get to the run below. They are only 2 weeks old now and I don't want to make it to small.

My pop door is about 16" high by 12" wide but I have very large chickens, LF brahmas. It's a bit of a squeeze for my 13 lb. rooster, but even he can make it through just fine.

I used an arcadia-door dog door...so I can close it up at night (no sneaky chickens).

My chicken doors are 12 inches wide by 12 or 15 inches high (more than one coop). Large enough that my fat, fluffy cat used one today to go take a nap in a nest box!!!!

Chickens were not happy.
