Access to pool

The pool is 12 inches tall. I need ideas for some sort of ramp to get in and out. I'm thinking about a plastic step stool inside the pool to get out but I haven't figured out how to make that connection over the top. I have to consider the chickens(in case they get in the duck area) to make sure if they get in, they can get out.

So any pictures of these set ups would be awfully helpful.

I just use large rocks for the ducks to get into and out of the pool. I used to have brick steps for them. So far there have been no problems with my chickens who are housed with the ducks. I hope this helps.
