Hello. I have some first coop design questions...
Do chickens need a ladder to the nesting boxes?
How high should the nesting boxes be from the floor?
How high should the roosts be?
should I make a ladder to the roosts?
Thanks for the guidance...

Do chickens need a ladder to the nesting boxes? Nope. Ours are about 1.5feet above the ground, both the banties and the full size just hop in.
How high should the nesting boxes be from the floor? oops guess I jumped the gun answering that.
How high should the roosts be? We set our roost at 3 feet and you know what... they use it as a "step ladder" to get up to the rafters. The old girls, 3yrs, are the only ones that use the actual roosts. Guess they'd rather leave the roosts to the young whipper snappers that don't know any better.

should I make a ladder to the roosts? No need for a ladder they'll fly up there once they get to be about 4 months or so.

good luck with the coop! and WELCOME TO BYC THE MOST ADDICTING SITE EVER!
