One of my hens went broody so I let her try to incubate eggs. After several tries, she successfully hatched three of them. Unfortunately one hatched with splay leg and then broke one leg. The bone is exposed and the foot is hanging on by a piece of skin. He is not doing well. Any advice for what I should do? I would really like to try and support life.

I really truly do hate suggesting this but with a break like that there is a very very low chance he’s going to make it I personally would cull him. If you have access to a vet you could try going there but they are going to say the same thing unfortunately there’s not much able to be done for the poor baby

If you really want to save this baby (culling is far kinder), use a side cutter to remove the leg at the break. Use super glue to pull any skin together or seal the bone (dab it clean if necessary). Apply some neosporin to the wound. And get him on antibiotics asap (penicillin, amoxicillin, tetracycline are fine). He’ll be an invalid his whole life (picked on, need deep bedding (no wire floored pen). Culling is kinder and it will be a struggle to survive.
