Accidental wormer overdose?

Have a gander at this site:
It's hard to know if the 2 that got double dosed will experience a problem. But here's a great summary of the options available. There are a list of references and additional reading on the topic listed at the bottom of the article. Ivermectin, according to this site, applied topically, will treat roundworms, threadworms, gapeworms and external parasites in chickens.

Again, conflicting info. That is the article I read and why I went with Ivermectin. Apparently it is not accurate.

@BiddyBiddy As mentioned, your birds will be fine. I dont recommend Ivermectin as a wormer. It has lost it's effectiveness as a wormer in poultry due to its overuse in treating mites. As a matter of fact, according to Parasitepedia, it has lost its effectiveness in treating northern fowl mites due to resistance.
I've used Ivermectin Pour On and Eprinex in the past and saw large roundworms in feces 4-5 weeks later, not very effective at all. Stick with the benzimidazoles and leave the avermectins to other livestock and dogs.

That’s a relief! So now what? Should I wait a few days or a week and then give everyone safegurd instead? Is plain ol’ safeguard my best option? Should I get something that has Fenbendazole plus something else in it? This is the one I gave the two birds before I dropped it on the ground.

Should I get something else? Also, is the dosing info I read of .23ml per lb correct? It seemed like a lot. Definitely way more than the “pea sized” info I see everywhere. Sorry for all the questions but since I’ve come across conflicting info, I’m questioning everything now! :hmm

Yes I would start over in a couple of days with this Safeguard if I were you.
.23 per pound is correct.
The pea size amount is wrong.

Permethrin has even worse resistance from mites. Why it’s recommended so often with the same exact picture from tractor supply I have no idea? I’m guessing very little experience?

What is it that you have found that works, then? I have used carbaryl, which is not longer approved for chickens, and it did not work. In fact I obeserved lice for an hour after pulling off some feathers, and they crawled through the dust and never died.

Permethrin has worked for me for 8 years. I have only dealt with lice, not mites thank goodness. We tend to post pictures of products to help some who can’t seem to find things recognize what to get.
