Fipronil. Before you say it’s not approved for chickens neither is Baytril and I see it recommended regularly. I didn’t say permethrin doesn’t work. I said it has a lot of resistance from mites. Fipronil works better than anything and its not even close based on my experience. I’m well aware of all the reports and fact sheets on toxicity, egg withdrawal, etc.. I’ve used it for years without issue and no lice and no mites. I’ve skinned birds, ziplock bagged the saddles and capes to actually check not just some random naked eye visual check.What is it that you have found that works, then? I have used carbaryl, which is not longer approved for chickens, and it did not work. In fact I obeserved lice for an hour after pulling off some feathers, and they crawled through the dust and never died.
Permethrin has worked for me for 8 years. I have only dealt with lice, not mites thank goodness. We tend to post pictures of products to help some who can’t seem to find things recognize what to get.
