Last night I took an egg out to candle it and noticed a network of small cracks on the top. The embryo was still good.
There are three small yellow fluid bubbles which have dried on outside of the shell and at no point is the shell cracked all the way through.
Do I take the egg out or does it have a chance?????????

Well that's the end of that! I took out the egg and candled it before putting the wax on it and it had clearly quit.
Thanks for the advice.
You know I think what cracked it was the digital hygrometer. It sits on the eggs and had got caught in between two racks when the tuner moved.
From now on I'm going to keep it on a section of egg carton off to one side of the eggs. You live and learn.

I had this happen to me, three days before they were due to hatch. I was so upset. Then a friend from BYC told me to dip in candle wax. I did this (it was almost a full day after I had cracked it. The little thing hatched out just fine!

Candle wax works pretty well. I've done that before, I had one in my last hatch that accidentally got cracked when one of my cats jumped on the incubator. I just dripped a little melted wax on the egg and spread it over the crack with a finger.

I just had this happen to me! I was candling an egg (day 9) and it accidentally fell off the candler. Very minor hairline fracture. I ended up putting melted beeswax on the top. Hopefully all will come out OK!!

I've used candle wax and nail polish - never had one of those hatch.
I started using liquid skin bandage. Almost all of those have hatched.
One had a network of cracks (after dropping on floor) over 70% of the egg at day 10. I had no hopes for it. On hatch day it was out and running around when I woke up.
One advantage of the liquid bandage is that it has antiseptic properties unlike the other two options. It takes longer to dry than wax but faster than nail polish.
