Help! While setting up the brooders my son accidentally filled our chick feeders with layer ration instead of the starter we got for them. He didn't know, he was trying to help, but I just realized now when I was switching out water that the bag of starter was still unopened. We have day old rainbow ranger meat chickens and broad breasted turkeys. They were on the layer crumble for about 48 hours. I have switched it now to the starter ration (mixed with a bit of the layer to not make the switch too sudden) and at this point all chicks seem to be eating, drinking and living fine. Is there anything I should be Leary of or something else I should do? Thank you in advance for any advice!

You might notice some liver problems when you butcher but it will be fine. Excess calcium is bad for chickens, as it causes horrible organ problems later on, but in meta birds they won’t be around long enough to even get symptoms.
