Achnaha Scotland
Thanks for letting us join. The BYC site has been great, so much detail and comprehensive coverage of all things chicken.I have a croft, smallholding, in Achnaha, a very remote place on the Ardnamurchan peninsula NW Scotland. I spent a few years here as a child and left as soon as I could, after 30 years came back with Helen who has settled in well, the climate and midges being the most difficult problems we face.
We got our first batch of 8 Bluebell hybrids in April, sadly down to 7 after the sudden death of Pretty, we have added Ronnie the rooster & more recently Winnie, our very stroppy broody, a x Orpington Buff. She has a clutch of 4 due today, Helen is flapping accordingly. We have been here a couple years now and loving the learning that goes with a life such as this.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I'm sorry for the loss of Pretty. It's always sad to lose one of our flock. My wife and I visited Scotland for our 37the wedding anniversary and we both loved the highlands. One of these summers in the near future, we plan on taking our granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) to visit there. If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is loads of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

Good luck with the hatch today, please keep us posted on how it goes. Make yourself at home here, feel free to ask questions or share stories & pictures of your flock. It sounds like you're enjoying your birds. I'm sorry for the loss of Pretty, that's never easy.

Thanks for joining us!

Glad you joined the Backyard chickens flock. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Sorry for your loss. Sending good hatching vibes your way

Thanks so much for the kind thoughts re Pretty, her pal Lulu took it badly & for a week or so decided to use our lounge to lay, which was sweet, & ridiculously wrong on my part, but hey ho they are all part of the family. Winnie attacks our collie Lily at any opportunity, Lulu & Coco come in whenever the door is open to steal dog food, fruit or anything that looks appealing. Considering Lily, the collie, wont let Gus, the Newf, anywhere near her food we find her tolerance level astounding. We can also safely leave the dogs with the chickens unsupervised. Predators around here are many so the coops are not very pretty but bomb proof.
