Ack! Almost lost chickens to a small hawk!!!

Heard a commotion outside where my flock was freeranging, and a small hawk was after em! My rooster was going after it after it landed on the ground having failed its first attempt, and it lifited off and went after my youngest daughters favorite hen, which dh scared it off.... All are present and accounted for and in the coop!

Someone suggested hanging old CDs on fences and coops to swing in the breeze and help deter flying predators. I'm sure going to try it! Glad your flock is safe!

I've read here that it's a good idea for chickens to have covered areas they can duck into in case of hawks etc. Glad everyone's okay!

Come to think of it, I bet strips of white flagging tape would work too. It works well for deer, why would it not work for other wildlife? HHMMMMM, may have to try that theory out myself!
