I have 15 duck eggs in the bator at the 1/2 way point. I have found my first pea egg. Gotta say, I like the peas better. lol I just can't bring myself to take out all the duck eggs. How damaging would it be to put a pea egg through lockdown for the ducks? This pea egg is doomed isn't it. :(

I would say doomed if you do not have another incubator or broody, you only got 1 egg , why can't you wait till the ducks are done in a couple days and see if you don't get more pea eggs so you can sit a clutch instead of having a baby here and there hatching leaving you with lonely distressed babies till the others hatch.

They are at the 1/2 way point so it'll be another 10 days until the ducks hatch. I figure the egg won't be any good then.

I would just eat the peafowl egg or sell it until you are done hatching the ducks then hopefully by then you will have more eggs from your peahen or peahens. Just one peahen will certainly give you a lot of eggs so if you can't incubate this one there should always be more. I have 4 peahens and for the past several weeks I have been getting and selling around 8-9 eggs per week from them.

I also agree that it would be a good idea to try and have several peafowl eggs and then start incubating them at the same time so they have friends. Imprinting a peachick can be fun, but VERY demanding as they will cry when you leave the room, etc.

You can always go to the feed store and get a simple GQF Styrofoam incubator for incubating other eggs if you get more peafowl eggs while the duck eggs are still incubating and you really want to try hatching. I have had some good luck hatching peachicks with my two styrofam GQF's.
