We do not like the snow. We have made it veeeerrrrryyyy clear that We Do Not Like The Snow. After two days in the coop saying "LaLaLa, I can't see the snow", we finally ventured forth to see if the sky was still falling.
Some of us were braver than others of us.

Only Dorito the BO made it all the way out. That was more because of the BOSS I tossed out. She is a greedy little pig chicken.

Granted, with the run netting still looking like this, it is entirely possible that the sky is falling.

At least the dogs are happy...

My girls MADE me remove the horrible white stuff from their run. They were having no part of it. They even stood on the ramp to the coop to make sure that I did it correctly.

Great pics, CityGirl! The icy netting looks scary. Beautiful, but scary.

My birds did not like the snow, either. We got a foot or so, and I had to shovel out little chicken paths leading from coop to coop to dry spot under the broody jail... And so on.

The laying flock never did venture out of their big walk-in coop, so that shoveling effort was a complete waste.

But the birds in the little hutch coops did come out and run around. The jungle gym was a particularly popular hangout. I wish I had taken pictures of the pretty birds preening in the sun, surrounded by a deep blanket of whiteness.

Wretched deep blanket of whiteness!

I was hoping you would see these, Laura. I was going to PM some to you today, especially the netting one. The ice is starting to melt on top, so the underside is stripping off looking like waffles. HA! I feel sure there will be some "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!" from the chickies later today. Not that they will be in the run to experience it.

I'm sure the jungle gym was a huge hit. They could sit up high with toasty toes and survey their kingdom. My pitiful little 4" is nothing compared to your foot!

Chook-a-holic, you are MUCH nicer than I am. I told them that if I could tromp around in the snow to bring them warm water, hot oatmeal and tasty treats that they could deal with the tiny bit of snow in their runs.

thanks for sharing!! i love it!

youre all nicer then i am i threw mine out in the snow but i have a reason they free range most of the time and when the snow hit and they were afraid to go out the 5 roos i had started to feel a little cramped and grouchy even though they free range and are always together outside and get along so i had to toss them out of the coop a few of them flew right back i caught them outa the air and repeated but they had to figure out the snow was not evil

I have hoity-toity chickens too.......had to rake the snow out of their runs before they would venture forth. Not even the lure of BOSS would move them!

LMAO MINE TOO! They will sit there and YELL at me until I get them some "non snowed" areas to walk on. Glad I dont have the only weird chickens who hate snow. I'm telling them they better get used to it...they live in WI!

Ha! I'm in Middle TN, too (Murfreesboro).

My husband had to go today and shovel snow from my girl's run because only the cochins would come out in it. We had an incident yesterday when we let them free range. When it was time to coop up, three of the girls didn't want to trek back across the yard from their nice bare grassy area under the edge of the above ground pool so I had to play chicken taxi, carrying them. When it came time for the partridge rock, who does not like to be held much, she didn't want me to get her. I spent 15 or so minutes chasing the stupid chicken around the base of the round pool. Finally, when it was almost dark and she had worked herself into a state because she wanted in the coop with everyone else, I was able to snatch her tail feathers as she tried to skitter off. She didn't even squawk or squirm like she usually does when we hold her. So, today they all had to stay inside. But, DH was nice enough to clear the snow from their run so they spent a lot of time on their roost.

Chickens are so funny, aren't they?
