Hi everyone
We have hen around a year and a half in age, and we recently noticed she was bleeding from her vent (and still is after 2 days) and had a protrusion about 1 inch long from her vent. Pics coming soon

this is her after her epsom salt bath. The purple is Blu-Kote. The red is where the blood dripped down and stuck, and the brown is the protrusion.

It looks like she has a prolapsed vent. Keep the red tissue from drying out with ointment such as vaseline, hydrocortisone cream, mineral oil, etc. A human calcium tablet with d3 might help with muscle contraction. Is she pooping? Sometimes the can be trying to pass an egg when it can prolapse. Keep her separated from others while the prolapse is out.

Silly question, but my mom was wondering if a food grade cooking oil spray would keep it from drying out?

I looks like she may have prolapsed, it's hard to tell.

I would keep the area clean and coated with an oil or ointment to keep tissue from drying out. Coconut oil, honey, mineral oil, preparation H, etc. can be used to keep the tissue moist.

Get some Extra Calcium into her. I wouldn't continue with the BluKote, it makes it hard to see what's going on.

Do you best to keep the area rinsed of poop. If any of the brown sloughs off and it looks different, update us with photos.
