Actual Correct Dosage for Safeguard Dewormer for Chickens

Oh man. I did the safeguard dose for 5 days. 3 of 4 chickens seem fine w far less worms. Today I can’t see any. But that doesn’t really mean much if I used the wrong dewormer. The 4th chicken has her tail down and green poop. Lethargic. Still drinking water and a bit of food. I’m wondering if the dewormer was too hard on her? Should I put her on an antibiotic? She did lay an egg yesterday that was lighter in color than usual. Any help is appreciated .thank you!

I’m giving my hens 1ml of the Safeguards for goats for 5 days. For tapeworms. I saw tiny white worms in poop.how long until their poop goes back to normal after 5th dose?

Do you have photos of the worms you saw? Are you sure they are Tapeworms or could they have been maggots or something else?

If Tapeworms, then you'd want to treat with Praziquantel as suggested.

For the hen with her tail down, see that she's drinking well and eating. It's possible she may have another issue going on besides worms.
You will need Equimax equine paste or Zimecterin Gold equine paste to treat for tapeworms. The Safeguard liquid goat wormer wont treat tapeworms.

Hi! Surprisingly I didn’t take a pic of the worms. I don’t see them now. But they were slightly smaller than a grain of rice, white, and moved slowly. The last dose was 7/8. As for the sick chicken, she’s eating about the same as yesterday. 1/2 as much as normal I’d say. This is poop from today.

Did you treat with Praziquantel for Tapeworms?

Has she been having any issues with laying eggs?

I'd work on hydration and eating. She may benefit from some probiotics.

Hi! I treated w Safeguard for tapeworms. Now I’m realizing I should have treated w Praz. I’ve been feeding her scrambled eggs soaked in electrolytes/probiotic water . For 2 days. She gobbled that up!She laid an egg yesterday and day before. She’s usually 5 or 6 out of 7 days laying.

Will she eat her normal feed too?

So, yes, if what you saw was Tapeworms, then treating her with Praziquantel would be a good idea.

So if I wanted to treat 4 hens approx 5 lbs (silver laced and blue laced red Wyandottes), what would be the calculation for 2 qts of water? I'm great at math but didn't do well with chemistry and conversions, lol.
