I have been reading things about using Apple cider vinegar in water...I have runner ducks how often should this be done? And is it beneficial? Also read to never place it in metal water containers

Apple cidar vinegar is something I have never used. Mind you, I've never used any deworming products either.
It is good for ridding of pastey butt.

Don't know about "ridding pastey butt" but do know it's great for preventing sour crop. Especially, with grouse, they are prone to get sour crop very easily.
