I originally put this under predators/pests but will try here. I used Adams flea/tick dip on my flock last night for mites as I have read in a number of posts here at BYC. Used as directed- 1 Tbl per gallon and then used a bit less in consecutive buckets because I was afraid it was too strong. I had 30+ birds to dip. Went into the coop this morning to find one dead chicken and the rest are looking rough. They are laying around or standing there like they feel terrible. Did I poison my whole flock? Is there something I should do. Dip them in fresh water, hose them down...anything. I'm so worried.

I would dip them in fresh water, and try to encourage them to drink to flush things out of their system. I am not familiar with the mite treatment (I am checking in from the Duck Side), but if it is toxicity, then fresh water is helpful.

I have used activated charcoal (it is a supplement, not the briquettes for grilling) in water for toxicity. About three capsules emptied into a half gallon of water. You can get it at drugstores or health food stores sometimes, or if you burn clean hardwood in a wood stove, you can grind up the charcoal. But don't do the latter if you burn trash or treated lumber or softwood. Safer to buy the capsules or powder.

So you might do well to put charcoal in their water for a few days, too.

Oh no! Good luck. Its the worst feeling in the world when you are trying to save your chickens and instead hurt them...not saying its your fault. But I killed my chicken injecting her with antibiotics...and I cried for days and days.
