Adapting to a new coop

We just put our chicks 15 weeks old in the new roomy coop we built for them. For the last three nights they are ignoring their roost and the rest of their coop and sleeping crowded into the 6 inches of space at the edge of their coop, just at the top of the ladder. What gives? How can I get them to sleep on. Their roost?

if they wanted to be on the roost they would be. my full grown hens sometimes dont sleep on the roost. and i have 2 4 ft roosts

Give them time, our girls did the same thing and within a few days they were on there roost.

It has been exactly a week and tonight they are all four on the roost! What a relief!
