I am hoping someone can help me, we just added an Add a Motor automatic door opener today. When we tested it by plugging it in directly and then unplugging it and plugging it in again it worked great. So thinking it was all good, we then plugged it into the timer that we set up just like I was told to. With an "on" green then "off" red. However all it did at that point was close the door then open it right up again and stop. And then when I unplugged it turned the timer all the way around back to the correct time again and made it go off again it did the same thing. Door goes down and then goes right back up. Then BAM my line broke and the door came crashing down.

What is going on? What on earth did I do wrong? Thanks so much for your help.

I have the same motor and it works great. First off the timer you have is it a dual timer? It should have 2 sets of red and green stops on it. The way mine works is the first set is together so power is to the motor for about 5 mins to make it go up in the morning. Second set is the same way in the evening to make it go down. It is a real simple set up and the only thing that I can see is the timer you have might be wrong. As for the string well I think the one provided is junk. Mine has broken a few times and or the knot just comes out. I am thinking of changing it out with some high test fishing line. Good luck and hope you can figure it out

Ok worked on it again today and I am posting this in case someone else ever has the same issues. They are all user error LOL We discovered two problems.
First the door that DH estimated weighed 4 lbs when actually weighed weighs 6 lbs. 2nd when he read the directions I think he only looked at the pictures instead of reading them

and we did not double the line and twist like the instructions say to do. Sooo it is no wonder the line broke.

I still have no idea why it was closing and re opening itself as I do have the double timer with a green (open) and then red (off) on the timer twice once in the morning and once in the evening. And when we tested it today with the timer it worked fine.

Thanks for the help, Tracy in WA
