Add my hen

I guess I can add my hen to the list of people who have chickens with bald bulging butts. I have had 2 of my chickens to the vet this year for respiratory problems (I lost one and it broke my heart) I am retired and cannot afford any more vet bills. It seems so many chicks have this. I have never heard of anything like this but when I entered the search words "chicken with bald bulging butt" you wouldn't believe the responses that came up. But nobody seems to know what it is and it appears to be a chronic condition. This chicken is at the bottom of the pecking order and as she walked up the ladder to bed the other night I saw one of the other hens pick her behind. She had a birds eye view so to speak. I am going to try to put some "Peck No More on her behind tonight and see if that could possibly help

I'm sorry your hen is struggling.

From what I can see in the photos, it appears to be a prolapsed vent which can happen in adult hens when they strain with a large egg.
