Add new chicks now or wait until spring?

If it were me I would wait too. Just not worth the risk at all. And that few of chicks won't be a big mess. Or you could even try to keep them in the garage with a heat lamp and 1/2 of their brooder covered. I have orps hatching on November 7th and were keeping them in the house till spring.

I totally feel your pain. I want a dozen more chickens next year and it's so hard not to order chicks now...

I could give them a heated space when they are ready to go outside BUT if the heat went off one night, it could be a disaster.

So I think we should both wait. It's just not a good time of year to do it.

Thanks guys! OK, I'll wait until spring, since I have no way of heating my coop. I want to make sure I do it right, it's just so hard to resist those cute little fluff butts...sigh.
