Added a cover

Suggestion: Drop the tarp edges about 2 to 3 inches lower. Reason I'm saying this is to prevent any sagging pools of water/snow. I am seeing some sag in yours and don't want you to have the eye holes in the tarp ripped off like I did after a huge rain/snow (I had a different setup but worry for you).
Predator proofing in our neck of the woods if important but I am going to let others talk about that.
I second the concern about long term water and snow sagging. It was a big issue in our turkey run. Then when we pushed it off the puddles it made were messy too.
The second year we re-did the whole run slanted and dig it out then covered it with a thick sand. That ended the mud and ground puddles.
plus when ever there were big storms we took the tarp off. It’s no contest against German hurricane winds.

They don't get much snow in North Carolina.

Are you from Germany @fairie ?
Here's how to add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!
