Hello I am reaching out to BC again. I have two khaki Campbell girls, they will be 5 months old next week, they also just started laying eggs one week ago today. There was a farm in our area that were giving away Khaki Campbell drakes and we picked one up. He was super sweet with us, a little grumpy at first but has taken to the girls really well. He wasn't aggressive with them, unless they are in the pool, which there is mating going on but it literally lasts second and he gets off of her and they both swim around. But I have noticed that since he has come around one of my girls (while they are sleeping, napping) will sit there and heavily pant, sometimes her eyes are closed but some times she will pant and throw her head back with her eyes open. But if I go out there to see if she is ok, she gets up and does her normal things, but this isnt normal........any ideas?

I don't know what that could be, are you having extremely hot weather? might try putting so electrolytes or vits in their drinking water.

There are many possibilities including infection, heat, or hormones.

Make sure she has shade, cool water, extra vitamins and electrolytes. Bring her into a cool shelter and see if she improves. My broody ducks sometimes pant and scrunch up their necks. Check her poop, if it is very dark and slimy it could be internal infection.

Praying for you all.

She seems to be better today. I honestly think it is hormones. Her poo is fine and we really have not had any hot hot weather. But before she would lay her eggs where ever and now the drake is here she lays them in the nest box. I think is just got all the ladies worked up. They seem to be calming down.
