Well, I have 2 LG incubators and bought a fan the other day to see if this will help with my hatches. This is the last ditch effort for the LG before I go to a 1588 Hovabator. I have read on the forum quite a bit that the fan will help circulate the air for better hatches...any comments....

I have the LG still air and hand turn my eggs three times a day. This works wonderfully for me. I set my bator up on pieces of 2x4's (4 of them, one for each side) in a way that it doesn't block the holes in the bottom of the bator, and keep the red plugs open during the whole time, except if I need to increase humidity on day 18, then I close one plug. I get plenty of air flow that way. I also fill jars with water about the size of baby food jars, covers on, and set them around the inside perimeter of the bator for a couple days before I set the eggs, to stabilize the internal temp of the bator...better thermal mass (about 5 to 6 jars). The jars stay in there during the whole time. I maintain the temp around 101.5 and 102.5. I do have to adjust once in a while. I fill the water wells in the bottom, and if the humidity needs to be increased, add 2 small pieces of wet sponge (42% to 55% humidity). Then I take the top of egg cartons (the ones that are not solid, and have holes in them), cut them down a bit around the sides, and put my eggs in them tipped to one side, and turn them back and forth approx. 8:00am, 2:00pm, 9:00pm, every day till day 18. On day 18, I make sure the water wells are full, add a sponge, and fruit cup sized containers of water to get my humidity up to 65 -70 percent, take the eggs out of the carton and lay them on the screen, and wait. Day 21 they hatch. Don't give up on your LG!!

I think it helps not only to keep temps stable, but also humidity. My first couple of hatches I had chicks that were both shrink wrapped AND that drowned. They were in different areas of the bator. I broke down and bought the turner and had hubby install an old pc fan we had laying around. I haven't gotten everything for lockdown down pat yet, but it has helped ALOT. Best of luck to you!

Maybe there is still hope for this bator................My hatches haven't been bad, but the last 2 have been about 50% so something is not right.................
