Honestly, now that I know what is involved, I think I would wait till I had room to add at least 3-4 birds at once, or more if I had the space, so that the new ones would have some strength in numbers. Since right now my 7 birds consist of 2 2-year-olds and 5 that are less than a year, that will be a while. If I were to lose both of the older girls, I'd probably stick with the 5 established birds, wait till I'm down to 3 and then add 4. Here's hoping that's a long time from now since I am very fond of the two "old ladies".
