Hello. As my muscovy hatch only one duckling, and +/- in same time my hen hatch chicks, i thought about putting only muscovy duckling under hen. Today i did it un daytime, putting it under, but after few surprising views, she start to peck it. I thought is there chance she's gonna take it, if I put him under in nighttime? And in morning all is going to be good? Looks like, duckling understands that shes aint his mother, but duck is. 2 hours time for answer.

Why not leave it with the Muscovy mama? Chicken can kill ducklings and it sounds like it didn't go so well already. I wouldn't chance it.

I leave it. Walks like and idiot with mama without a food in mixed flock, and im aint gonna run after with saucer of ducklings food.
Put ducklings food in one fenced corner, where other chickens cant get in.
Thats why i wanted to. Im focused on my chicks.

The chickens will most likely kill the duckling. You might as well put it down if you don't want to care for it properly. No sense in letting the little thing suffer.

Little thing is covered by his mama and papa. But I cant put chicken starter food in middle of flock, 1 minute and its gonna be emptied by other chickens.
I have over 20 hens and 5 roosters there, and all is cool with that little thing walking around them.
I have fenced food corner for him, it can get in and eat.
.

It was so amazing view when duckling was with chickens, he was so active there, the most. I would love him to grow between chicks. + Should not be busy on two sides, like now...

When and how im gonna could sex it?

Family.

P.S, other 5 eggs, one was watery when opened, all others was with full grown duckling in it, but dead. Guess not enough warm in nest, but this one get thru it, this duckling should be strong one then.
