Today I found 2 5-week old light brahma females for sale. We currently have 6 8-week old chicks that we have had since 1 day old. I wanted some brahma's, but they were not available when we originally picked our chicks. Will they be too small to fit in with my group? (3 cochins, 1 red sex link , 1 astrolorp, and 1 black sex link) and most everyone agrees 2 roos (hence the 2 Brahmas) Will they have to be kept seperate for a couple of weeks? (the dust is still settling from the brooder in the front room:lol:)

Thank you for any help.

They should mix fine, but if I were you I would quarentine them first before putting them together. Good BIO-SECURITY saves lives.

I was just reading about that. How long should they be quarantined?
Don't you love dealing with us nervous newbies.

Most say a month. Some say 10 days to 2 weeks. I am currently trying not to bring any live birds into my flock. However I have in the past & I quarentined for 28 days. Also be sure to wash good inbetween handling the differant sets of bird. I would also do a search on good bio-security if I were you. READ READ READ ! This is the best advice I can give.
