I have two chicks 5 1/2 weeks old and want to get another. I have found some chicks for sale near me that are 8 weeks old. Is it ok to add the 8 week old with my two and how should i go about it?

At that age, given plenty of space, there shouldn't be a problem at all. The newbie will be bigger so can fend for itself.
My concern would be disease/parasites so I would quarantine the new bird a while.

i do not have any where to quarantine a new chick. is there anyway to tell if the chick is healthy so i can just add it to the coop?

Look for the most robust bird and check it thoroughly for lice/mites.
After that you'll just have to gamble.
Birds can be diseased and not show it right away, hence the need for a quarantine period.
