adding a roo to my flock of 15 hens

I have read the thread by Buff Hooligan on introducing a new chicken to your flock and my only question is, should I have a secluded place where he can be outside or do I need to keep him in the dog carrier the whole quarentine time?

The idea behind quartine is that the chicken is not sharing the same space - - - The same physical and AIR space.
Your roo doesn't have to stay in the dog carrier,
but he should not be close enough to the hens that he could give them germs (infections) or insects (mites, lice, etc)
