Adding a Rooster to a current Pullet flock

I have talked to the owner, and according to her, he is a sweetheart.
How I got my first cockbird, and she proved it when I came to see she picked him right up. I only wanted 6 hens, but he would come with 4 young pullets(one of which turned out to be a male).
I learned a lot from Mr. Rooster....and the rogue young cockerel, who was my first slaughter and delicious. Mr. Rooster actually went back to the seller a year or so later, he was too good a boy to eat and her friend had just lost a cockbird.

Oh sorry waxing reminiscent ....is the cockbird and adult(over 1 yr)?
Easiest integration is a 'good' adult cockbird, he'll know those young girls are not ready to mate. Still good to separate at the very first....and good to have a separate enclosure ready in case things get ugly...which can happen with the speed of light if they do happen.

Good Luck!

Awww, I'm glad yours was good! I went to see him yesterday, and he's a little flighty, but non-aggressive. He is almost 2 years old, and a very pretty guy! I'll see if I can post pictures tonight.

With him being the man of the house so to speak, I don't think you'll have any issues. Especially since he's older and more mature. Most pullets/hens enjoy having a man around for protection and companionship. When I introduced my white Leghorn pullets to my white Leghorn rooster, who was 1 year at the time, I had the pullets in a crate inside the coop for 1 day and 1 night. The next morning I let the rooster out of the coop, followed by letting out the girls, I stood outside, close range, in case anything happened. It went Great! The girls went right to him, they still follow him everywhere. No fights, no issues. Best of luck. Hope this helped.
