Adding a run (lean to) to my coop (shed)

Let your roof overhang as much as possible. Wind driven rain might get them. Do you have something like a plastic dog kennel you can put in the avairy so they can get out of the weather? Fill the bottom with hay or shavings.
I plan on having six inch overhangs. to best utilize 8 foor lumber. I am thinking of actually enclosing the whole back half to ensure they get ample protection from elements. I have some spare siding laying around...

Multiple shelters will include tote with a door hole cut out. Overturned flower pots. Pine boughs galore propped at all angles to hide under. And probably a cave of sorts made of rocks.

I was thinking a layer of wood chips on the bottom and then a bunch of leaf litter, some fresh bags of soil, and some straw for the deep litter. Thoughts?

I am looking forward to finishing the build so I can set up their little environment. I love that part!

Sounds good. If they have plenty of places to get out of the wind and rain the should do great 👍. I am not sure which side faces North but I would cover that whole side at least for the winter anyways.

Might want to take advantage of all that hight. Add natural perches (branches and things)
I don't think quail really utilize perches too much. The height was mainly for my ease of keeping!! I will make some hills/ramps up to some rocky platforms though. That will add some floor space and different perspectives for the little guys.
