Guessing if you add an HC barrier, you won't need the rocks there.I most likely will do it the right way though and move the rocks, put the hwc, and put the rocks back over it.
Yeah. I could move them a couple feet to make a nice border around the outside of the addition to cover the hwc skirt. Probably just leave a couple for the quail to hop around on.Guessing if you add an HC barrier, you won't need the rocks there.
I plan on having six inch overhangs. to best utilize 8 foor lumber. I am thinking of actually enclosing the whole back half to ensure they get ample protection from elements. I have some spare siding laying around...Let your roof overhang as much as possible. Wind driven rain might get them. Do you have something like a plastic dog kennel you can put in the avairy so they can get out of the weather? Fill the bottom with hay or shavings.
Sounds good. If they have plenty of places to get out of the wind and rain the should do greatI plan on having six inch overhangs. to best utilize 8 foor lumber. Multiple shelters will include tote with a door hole cut out. Overturned flower pots. Pine boughs galore propped at all angles to hide under. And probably a cave of sorts made of rocks.
I was thinking a layer of wood chips on the bottom and then a bunch of leaf litter, some fresh bags of soil, and some straw for the deep litter. Thoughts?
I am looking forward to finishing the build so I can set up their little environment. I love that part!
I don't think quail really utilize perches too much. The height was mainly for my ease of keeping!! I will make some hills/ramps up to some rocky platforms though. That will add some floor space and different perspectives for the little guys.Might want to take advantage of all that hight. Add natural perches (branches and things)

Apparently! I don’t own quail so I didn’t know.Quail don’t use them
