My chickens are about 6 months old and starting to lay eggs now , I want to add a rooster and he’s about to turn one yr , is that a good age match up?

It depends on what breeds you have if they're full grown they should be fine, just keep an eye on them to make sure everything goes well.

They are of age to lay but I think they are still growing I have buff heads polish orpingtons EEgrr spitshauben

You might want to watch the crested breeds if you introduce the rooster into your flock, they tend to be the first to get beat up.

Maybe, maybe not.
Depends on the cockerel and his demeanor.
Sometimes adding a 'good' male is the easiest integration.
Where is this bird coming from?
Might want to think about the risk of bringing in pests/diseases.

I’m getting him from a friend
Since you've visited, quarantine is probably moot(not needed).
Keep him in a wire crate for a day or two so the girls can safely inspect him,
then let him out and see how it goes.

Ok I will and I’ll let you guys know but I just found out this weird ass Tyson breed pullet I saved When it fell from a truck and it grew immensely into a Tyranasaurus Rex chicken is now a cockerel , so now I’m scared to let my real rooster out
