Well I hope I'm in the right thread for this question...and I hope this isn't a stupid question, but I'm new to chickens (in my adult life, at least!)
I currently have a flock of 14 chicks - 5 buff orpingtons, 5 barred rocks, 2 easter eggers, and 2 rhode island reds. They were five weeks old on Monday, and have been out in their coop now for a few days and thriving.
Today I went into town and to the feed store, where of course they have a new shipment of chicks. Stupid me I went and looked, and they now have bantys. I'd really like to get 2 or 3 silky bantams like I had as a kid, but I passed them up becuase I'm not sure of adding them to my current flock when they are old enough to be out? I know you can mess up the pecking order by adding chickens.
Any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance!
