My son recently hatched chicks (2 days ago)

He ended up with 6, is there any reason we cant get more from the feed store and add them in since we have the brooder all set up for many more.

Of course we could look to get the closet in size..

The chicks your son hatched 2 days ago are very close in age to new chicks arriving at feedstores this week. (The arriving feedstore chicks are usually 2-3 days old on day of arrival). At this point in their young lives, intermingling them should be no problem at all. Its no different than getting more than one breed at the feedstore, bringing them home, & raising them in the same brooder.

I added 3 chicks 4 days after the original 4 last March and while they are all a flock now, there was about a week or 2 when they tended to stick to their own groupings. I wouldn't have thought a few days could be so extreme but apparently it was. There was no fighting or drama. Just the 4 liked to pile up in one chick pile and the other 3 in their own pile.
