Adding fill dirt to coop/run

I want to add some dirt to raise the level of an area of coop and run. Need dirt safe for the chicks. Top soil I see says it adds all this stuff to your soil so not sure thats a good choice. Found organic garden soil but can I get some input if it will be safe for the chickies?

I will be adding chicks mix foraging seed to the top but ultimately just want to find safe soil.

Hello, welcome to BYC.

How big a space are you needing to fill? Bagged dirt is very pricey compared to buying bulk fill dirt. If you give us the dimensions of your coop and show us some photos we'll be able to better advise you.

Also, where, in general, are you located? Climate matters and resources available in some areas aren't available in others.

I don't care for this small of an area.... its like 3'x8' and only a few inches. 5 bags was enough. I was just more interested in the contents of what I was exposing my chicks to.
