I have/had 2 broody hens sitting on eggs. One of the hens is having a staggered hatch (actually both probably will). Her first 4 chicks hatched out and she lost interest in sitting on the others. I moved a couple underneath my other broody hen, then moved the rest to my incubator. I had 4 that definitely weren't viable, 2 hatched on Saturday, and 2 more still in the incubator. The other broody hen had 2 hatch this morning, but is still sitting on about 8 eggs.
So, we have 4 chicks that about a week old, plus 2 that are newborns, all in the brooder pen. 2 that are a couple of days old in a brooder in our house. Can I put the 2 inside in the brooder pen - basically, will the mama hens accept the incubator chicks?
And, should I remove the 2 that were just born, so that the broody hen will continue to sit on her eggs?
