My wife and I are considering adding meat birds to our flock. We currently have 19 layers and a rooster. After reading an article on here I guess a chicken tractor will be home to them.

We live in the Huron mountains in the Lake Superior snow belt on 50 acres of mixed forest and a lot of Rock 😀. Our layers free range during the day but are cooped at night.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
What breed(s) are your layers? Are you looking to raise Cornish cross or a dual purpose bird?
We generally buy whatever is left at the end of chick days at Tractor Supply. We are off grid and only have power from the generator so we try to get chicks starting to feather out if we can.

I was thinking of trying Cornish crosses for our "great experiment".
