I am new here. I have two free range hens on our property. I am feeding them and they have become very friendly. I am enjoying getting to know the chickens. We are planning on building a coop for them to keep them safe. I would like to add to the flock - maybe 4 more. I was considering getting some baby chicks. Are there problems with raising baby chicks and adding them to the 2 adult hens I currently have? Please advise. Thanks for you help!

New at this.

You may want to keep them separate until the little ones are big enough to defend themselves or run away fast enough. Sometimes the hens will "adopt" the chicks but sometimes it doesn't work out. It really just depends on your hens.

i was going to ask the same thing. I thought my eight week olds would be ok with my 4 week olds, but they are picking with/pecking at the little ones.
