I have read A LOT about adding new to flock. However my old flock as been weeded out by a fox. I have been trying to catch/kill him. How ever I've gone from 8 to 1. Couldn't keep them in the coop 24/7 due to it being to small. My Yard is fenced in but my chickens were butt heads and jumped it (4ft fence). I have 3 Week old baby chicks when would be the best time and way to introduce them to each other? I'm in the process of building a new area with 6 ft fence. However I'd like to introduce them before the 1 get lonely.

Have you built a larger coop for your flock as you said it was too small for the 8 you originally had?
Have you made your coop and run predator proof so that the fox does not just come back to kill the new flock?
If you have, the best thing would be to brood the chicks in the coop in a segregated area so that the full size chicken can watch them and they her. Integration is much easier when the chicks are raised in a "look don't touch" brooder in the coop.

I had them running around my Yard. One acre that is fenced in. However when they learned that my neighbor had bird feed on the ground. They couldn't stay away. They ended up flying over the fence. As of now I'm making a new coop with with a run. Current coop it's self was large enough for 8 bird but with 0 run. The new coop will be much bigger with a bigger run. Still being built :(. The current coop is big enough to throw a small brooder in ther 1x2 but no bigger. However don't think that's big enough for the next 8 I have.
