I could use some help here... We have 4 hens just over a year old. 2 BR and 2 Isa Browns. In march we bought 6 chicks..2 more Isa's and 2 leghorns and 2 easter eggers. {One of those may be a roo but more on that after I take a picture.} Anyway.. ONE of the older IBs is going after the younger ones..could be both or just one..not sure

Currently all six (who get alone well) are in a dog crate inside the coop and have been for almost a month now. When I let the older gals out to free range.. the others go into the run.

As soon as they all see the older IB coming... they run back into the crate...I read that I should free range them altogether..but do I just let them work it out ...will she adjust to the newer ones or will I have to re-home her? No feathers or blood yet..but like I said..they all cower together when she is near..except overnight..it's quiet. Thanks :)

im going through the same thing the reason why they are pecking each other is that they have to reestablish the pecking order and the older ones will protect their territory raight now im keeping mine between a wire other that that good luck

p.s(its best to put them together when your new chicks are as big as the older ones)

Thanks...the "babies" are almost the same size..I'm hoping they stand up for themselves with her soon! :)
