Hello everybody,

I have:
1 flock with 14 hens,
1 flock with 4 hens and 1 rooster,
1 hen alone,
1 rooster alone,
1 flock with 2 hens,
and one flock with both a male and a female guinea hen.

I want to get the hen that's alone with the lonely rooster, but I don't want the rooster to be too rough should I put them together? Is that okay?

And would it be okay to take 2 of the 14 hens and put them with both of them?

My last question is:

The hen that was with the rooster passed away on Easter- (Happy Late Easter, Sorry!)
How long is it okay for a rooster to be alone?

Thanks!
The Angry Hen,

P.S
I wish they all got along but some are too stubborn to become one big flock!

one roo with one hen, the hen would prob be 'overused'

if it were me i would merge

1 hen alone,
1 rooster alone,
1 flock with 2 hens,

into their own are, do it an hour or so after dark, with fresh bedding down, or by adding some dirty bedding from the other birds, that way it smells like they have always been there

Good Luck!!

Thank you very much for the advice!

I wish I could put the two hens with the rooster but the one hen was his baby,
I am not sure but I read somewhere that it might hurt their immune system.
I wish it was easier! I might try the timing thing, and put two of the fourteen with him and the lonely hen.
Could that work?

Thanks again,
The Angry Hen

it could, and many people line-breed so i dont think putting him in with his heirs would do much of anything
i have a bunch in with mine

Thanks!

I'll give it a try!
