Adding protien to chickens' diet

No, you can do that if you like. Also, add eggs to their diet, scrambled or hardboiled and chopped. You can even feed them a can of tuna once a week.

I've switched from layer feed to flock raiser, and made sure there is plenty of oyster shell around. The biggest difference I've seen is better feather condition and color on my two roos. My buff orp roo glows in the sun now. I also give them dry cat food when they are molting. They think cat food is the best stuff there is, even better than grapes.

i had them on a grower/finisher until about a week ago to get some feather quality back ok another quetion if i go back to grower/finisher and put in a starter then put out oyster shells will that cover all of my bases??
